Quebec City voted best destination in Canada

Québec City’s main competition hails, in order, from Sydney (Australia) in first place, followed by Florence (Italy), Charleston (United States), Cape Town (South Africa) and San Francisco (United States). Québec, who tied Santa Fe (United States), edged out Vancouver, Victoria, Barcelona, Venice and Rome. “Outstanding! This is truly encouraging, and a tap on the back from the exacting and experienced travelers that comprise Condé Nast’s readership. In its strategic plan for 2011-2013, Québec City Tourism had targeted the American market as a priority. These readers, by and large Americans, have confirmed that our strategy worked!” exclaimed Alain April, Chairman of the board for Québec City Tourism.

“This is our best performance yet! Since the magazine started ranking destinations, Québec City has never more impressed readers! We are quite proud!” said Gabriel Savard, the organization’s director.

The list is based on the opinions of over 28,800 Condé Nast Traveler readers. This year, Québec City outranked all destinations in Asia, South America as well as Central America (click here for details).

“I would also like to draw attention to the performance of the region’s hotel operators, notably the Auberge Saint-Antoine, the Germain-Dominion de Québec and the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac”, added Alain April.
